Last night on Starfield, I finished a bit of wandering around and also side missions on top of the main mission I was meant to be doing in a system, finally met up with the Oblivion reference I signed up for and added him to my crew alongside my robot buddy, and then decided to upgrade the ship's cargo capacity. This led to an extended dive into the ship builder where I figured out a few things, at least I think I did. Mainly it seems that most parts don't really rotate, rather they can just flip one direction, with some exceptions like weapons which can just attach to any point it can face forward. There's also a bunch of things to watch out for like docking pieces needing to be the highest point on a ship and not exceeding weight limits for landing gear. Once I figured all that out as well as holding the right combination of buttons and mouse inputs to slot pieces where they'd fit, I ended up upgrading the starter ship with a lot more than just cargo. Not the most creative method of additions, largely adding more engines and weapons as well as cargo on top of upgrading a couple things internally, but I did change the color scheme to something more my style.
Also it somehow rained on the Moon. Yes, Earth's moon, Luna, the one with barely any atmosphere. I was just seeing what would show up there wandering aimlessly, and while trying to figure out why the NPCs locked the door to a computer I had to get to for a random sidequest thing to help them and needing to get a tiny bit of XP to upgrade my lockpicking skill, a storm broke out with lighting and rain coming from dark clouds and all that stuff.
