PC Gamer’s Top 25 Most Wanted Games for 2024, Which I’ve Already Ranked
This is more of a short update post. I’m just looking at how the games that mostly aren’t quite out yet have been ranked by the Council of Gamers or whoever, and just comparing my previous ratings with their countdown, along with if my feelings about any of them have changed in this short time, mainly depending on if we know more about the games or not.
Their list counts down from 25 to number 1, and my rankings from before generally ranged from 1 (not interested at this point) to 5 (super interested), with 0 meaning “we only know Jack or shit about this and Jack just left”.
- Judas (3/5)
- Killing Floor 3 (1/5)
- Control 2 (Unrated → 0/5)
This wasn’t on the list when I ranked it. I’m not sure what was going on with that page. I played the first Control, but with the caveat that I did play with a bunch of “assists” on just to replicate the ability to become an anime god. I was also playing it on Xbone through Game Pass, and it would just eventually crash because memory leaks probably, but it still generally looked and worked fine. Of course we don’t know much about the sequel yet and they just got done with that long-awaited sequel to Alan Wake, a game I would have probably liked to have checked out but largely immovable things get in the way of that. And I just couldn’t get into the first game either but it looked neat.
- Crescent County (2/5)
- Citizen Sleeper 2 (1/5)
- Perfect Dark (the reboot) (2/5)
- Menace (2/5)
- Mafia: The Old Country (0/5)
- Dune: Awakening (1/5)
- Witchbrook (1/5)
- Skate (the reboot) (2/5)
- Project 007 (working title) (0/5)
- Atomfall (2/5)
- Light No Fire (2/5)
- Metal Gear Solid Δ: Snake Eater (2/5)
- The Thing: Remastered (2/5)
This one just came out, we’ll just have to see how well the release goes and how it holds up after any outstanding bugs that aren’t part of the crust experience get fixed.
- Wanderstop (2/5)
So now I’m less sure about wanting to check this one out. Apparently the underlying plot here is tied into feelings of burnout, or maybe it’s abstracted to not exactly be that but it might just end up being an allegorical version. I have to admit I wasn’t quite into The Beginner’s Guide, certainly not to the level The Stanley Parable holds up in my books, so I wonder how this will work out, but I may end up skipping it. Also I just still don’t feel much into these kinds of shop management games at the moment.
- Avowed (2/5)
- Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 (1/5)
- Death Stranding 2: On The Beach (4/5)
- Grand Theft Auto 6 (2/5)
- Slay the Spire 2 (1/5)
- Monster Hunter Wilds (2/5)
- DOOM: The Dark Ages (2/5)
- Sid Meier's Civilization VII (2/5)
A much shorter list this time. Long story short I still find it hard to get excited about games these days, especially ones I don’t know anything about. Now I have bigger lists to get to, mainly the upcoming one with all the new music I may or may not like on there.
