Your own promotional metaverse.

From what I can tell, there seem to be two main ways of promoting brands in virtual 3D spaces with avatars and such:

Or…

Naturally the latter happens with the “metaverse” stuff that’s backed by or connected to crypto-something in any way, like Viverse or Decentraland or whatever else has popped up. The former seems more what happens in Second Life or VRChat. I’m not sure where something like Neos or Horizon Worlds goes on this. Neos has some crypto thing that ended up screwing up development due to the whole crypto bubble from what I can tell but otherwise doesn’t involve any kind of blockchain stuff. And Horizon Worlds is Facebook. I’m honestly not sure if many brands have had sponsored content in that, and if they did, if the avatar framework would even allow wearing custom clothes like that.

All I can say is whatever the former approach is works better, and I also say that as someone who’s certainly biased against crypto blockchain stuff and all the issues that come with that. And also as someone who spends a fair bit of time in VRChat even with its flaws. At least the sponsored encounters there I’ve seen can end up being funny, like going with some friends to see what they’re trying to sell us on and ending up having someone show up with a custom avatar specifically to troll the branded world or driving a car into the ocean or whatnot. Or maybe the content itself is just crusty. Or it’s brands that can have jokes easily made. Also brands are evil, etc., like usual.
