The death of Valve’s hardware division… again.

2026/5/27

Along with the utter shitshow the US and its regime has inflicted upon the world, Valve’s Steam Deck thing is finally coming back in stock, and it will stay that way due to about a 150% price hike across the board, because owning hardware is about to become a thing of the past, all according to plan by the “AI” conspiracy to move all home computing off-site. It also aligns with my previous predictions about the collapse of the video game industry by the end of the decade, if not all of society. I’m also going to put out predictions for the prices of the remaining Valve hardware: The Steam Machine will be minimum $2000 USD and will have a limited run with whatever they brought over with no current plans to produce any more, which I believe likewise with the Steam Deck. The Steam Frame is either dead entirely or will be an even smaller run of $3000 USD minimum per unit, depending on if they already have them or not. Also the Steam Controller will double in price, minimum, and it’ll be the only thing they’ll actively manufacture at least for a little while longer, because there’s still some demand for it.

This is just a reflection of the accelerated irreversible death spiral of modern gaming and technology as a whole, where soon everything will be massively overpriced with not much value in it because all the sextuple-A $500 USD MSRP games became the same movie generated by the same machine, and the 10 people they have left at the companies will just go home with their billions once nobody’s buying their $10K USD and up systems that mostly just invent their own graphics, all on the cloud of course. Except Nintendo I guess, they’ll just do whatever the hell they want, maybe go back to just traditional playing cards only in Japan as the worst case once they release what they call “the last video game”. It’d be down to just one John Nintendo making the cards by hand in a little shop, telling tales about the characters on them and the adventures they did in games past, like any sort of folklore. And I think Steam might last into the 2040s, even with the dwindling number of capable PCs that haven’t broken down or been seized for whatever law was just generated, being able to spare an occasional pittance of $50 USD for the latest little indie game that’s probably a lot like the others before it being a roguelike deckbuilder idle battler, or whatever the latest asset flip generated garbage was posted that hour, just to keep the servers up a little longer.

As I mentioned before, games are destined to go back to a very niche hobby for the most part, where basement coders swap executables on some obscure forum that the mass surveillance program hasn’t yet caught on, except for something similar to what happened with social media. Mainstream games will end up being just a handful of platforms, provided they don’t get sued out of existence, essentially the likes of Roblox and Fortnite where it’s mainly kids on phones spending the family’s entire living budget on generated skins, but the law prevents them from just eating their bastard child that they didn’t want but couldn’t get rid of beforehand because of other laws. Laws that also include a mandatory breeding cycle for all women between the ages of 15 and 50 to produce a minimum amount of offspring within each year or else be processed into baby food.

That’s just the future that’s been generated, with the input of every science fiction novel in existence. I didn’t use any program to generate this rambling nonsense aside from a standard word processor with spellcheck that I keep ignoring because of how few modern words it recognizes. Also I’ve just been busy with other things, which is why I haven’t posted on here in a bit. I still plan to check out demos next month, for those who already have capable hardware because the ability to get said hardware is increasingly impossible. At this point whatever I have in terms of games and their respective hardware is going to last however long it does, and then I’ll just have to move on to other things once it’s unfixable. I have other things I’m doing anyway as it is so at least I have some idea of what life is like outside of constant electronic stimulation, which will be useful for after societal collapse. Ideally I don’t get to the point where I just partake in casual murder for entertainment out of boredom, and not for sustenance. If we’re just going by the games I’ve accumulated, that entertainment factor should take quite a while to run out, barring some thing eliminating that and all my other options all together.

It would also be cool if I could watch some archived streams without YouTube being a fucking bitch about everything because they insist on forcing more ads on everyone and I counter-insist on that not being a thing at all, or Twitch blocking half the video because it might be copyrighted by some asshole somewhere but probably isn’t. I was at work and then got caught up in this fucking nonsense to sort out my thoughts so I ended up not being able to relax with a background video and dinner, so I might as well just post this crap I was thinking of scrapping, even if I look more like a psychopath for it. Because for all I know I am, probably. I have a lot of murderous thoughts. I also wish a lot of harm, such as violent deadly accidents, upon a bunch of people, such as because they’re asshole drivers, in addition to being assholes who happen to be driving. Just not on the road I’m driving home on. But I’d still like to see it.
